Earth Wise Guide to Lawn Care

Irrigate Efficiently

  • Water before the sun comes up to help prevent fungal diseases and evaporation
  • Water deeply and infrequently to encourage deeper roots and prevent thatch
  • Water so that the soil is wet to a depth of 4-6 inches. To achieve this, you will need to apply 1/2 to 1 inch of water which can be measured in a small can or rain gauge
  • Because water is more likely to run off clay soils and sloping lots, it may be necessary to irrigate slowly or in multiple short cycles to prevent water run-off
  • Allow soil to dry out between waterings
  • Watering is seldom necessary during the dormant season (December-February)

Aerating

  • Aerate your lawn at least once a year to improve drainage and bring more oxygen to the soil
  • Moisten your soil the day before aerating to make the job easier and more effective

Water-wise Landscaping – Guide for water management planning

Envision a beautiful place near your home where there is native vegetation: grasses, sagebrush, oaks, and junipers or spruce, pine, and grasses. With an image in mind, place your house in the picture without disturbing the site. The view from inside your home is a natural garden. Occasionally you see deer and butterflies, and bird songs fill the air. Your water bill is reduced, there is little or no lawn mowing, and less fertilizing and maintenance. This is what Water-wise landscaping can be (Figure 3). It can be a contemporary landscape, a modification of a traditional
style, or a combination of styles – the commonality is low water use.

Water-wise landscaping is landscaping without wasting water. It includes planning a yard for your lifestyle, grouping plants together with similar water requirements, watering just to meet plant needs and using non-water consuming areas, such as decks and patios.

IDML (InDesign XML) File Format Specification

Uses for IDML
IDML provides a way for InDesign layouts to interoperate with XML based formats and technologies. Documents can be created and manipulated in IDML format and can then be opened and interpreted using InDesign. We’ve designed IDML to make it a key part of automated workflows. Using IDML, you can:

  • Generate or modify IDML documents or document elements using data from databases or other data sources (programmatic assembly).
  • Reuse parts of IDML documents, or break a document into components that can be used in a development environment (programmatic disassembly).
  • Transform document elements using XSLT.
  • Find data in InDesign documents using XPath or XQuery.
  • Use source control to manage creative content, or to compare two versions of a design.

Adobe Creative Suite 4 Enterprise Manual Deployment Guide

Create a single installer
If the installer spans in multiple discs, create a single installer.

  1. Create a folder on your hard disk.
  2. Insert Disc 1, and copy all the contents of Disc 1 into the folder that you created.
  3. Insert Disc 2, open the Payloads folder, and copy all its content.
  4. Open the Payloads folder of the folder on your hard disk, and paste the copied content. If you get a message to overwrite the existing files, click Yes.
  5. Open the Extension folder of Disc 2, if it exists, and copy all its content.
  6. Open the Extension folder of the folder on your hard disk, and paste the copied content. If you get a message to overwrite the existing files, click Yes.
  7. Repeat steps 3–6 for the remaining discs.

The new folder on your hard disk is the single installer and is used to create a package.
