Water Quality and Stream Habitat Protection Manual

The purpose of this manual is to provide a user-friendly, fish-friendly guide for County road maintenance staff as part of each county’s primary mission to provide a safe and open road system for the traveling public. The manual is intended to also be part of an evolving, proactive process by the counties of the northwestern region of California – Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Siskiyou, and Trinity – to address their mutual needs as part of the Five County Salmon Conservation Program.

As a group and individually, the counties will continue to compile and recommend the best available management practices for protecting local water quality and stream habitat while maintaining county roads and maintenance facilities. Each of the county public works /road/transportation departments already performs many preventative and remedial practices, but none had available a useful written compilation for use by their employees. These and other beneficial practices can now be shared through the manual, to be used as a daily reference for standard operating procedures and as a training tool by county road managers, engineers, supervisors, and crews

2011 – 2012 Fishing Seasons and Rules – Idaho Department of Fish and Game

Do You Need to Know Where to Take the Family Fishing?

In response to anglers requesting more family-oriented fishing opportunities and simplified rules, IDFG has identified waters that have basic rules and bag limits and provide a high likelihood that inexperienced anglers will catch a fish.

Each region has a Family Fishing Water Guide that you can find at our website or any of our Regional Offices. These pamphlets give you directions to local “Family Fishing Waters,” list the types of fish you could catch, access locations, and provide tips on fishing techniques to make your outing successful.

Methods of Fishing and Equipment

Archery and Spear Fishing: Fishing with a bow and arrow, crossbow, spear or mechanical device, excluding firearms. This type of fishing is permitted only in the taking of bullfrogs and unprotected nongame fish and only in those waters during the season set for the taking of game fish.

Landowners Guide to Fish Habitat Conservation and Restoration Practices

The purpose of this document is to help you – a riparian landowner – to develop good planning and implementation decisions for projects around water bodies, to find and understand good, fish-friendly methods, and to find assistance if you need it. This is NOT a “cookbook” or a construction manual, but it will guide you through the water and land permitting process. The goal is to help you to design improvements to your property that will be not only fish-friendly, but also improve the aesthetics and value of your property.

Watershed Restoration – A Guide for Citizen Involvement in California

WHAT Is A WATERSHED?

The conceptual definition of a watershed is any sloping surface that sheds water. Practically, it is a term used to describe the land area that is drained by a particular river, stream or creek. When hydrologists use the term they refer to a drainage basin or area as the total land area that discharges its surface water streamflow through one outlet or mouth. A large stream like the Klamath River can drain a huge land area and encompass a watershed of thousands of square miles. Most large watersheds are made up of several smaller watersheds associated with tributary rivers and feeder streams that contribute flow from areas known as sub-basins. Watersheds are ultimately defined by gravity. When you want to define a watershed you begin by selecting the stream or river that is of interest; the drainage area is then defined by a boundary of ridgetops. A drop of water falling on the top of that ridge will flow by gravity into your watershed or to the other side into an adjacent watershed depending on the topography or lay of the land.

Step 4: In order to change root password, type ‘login’ command (without quotes) and then press enter. Now type ‘root’ (without quotes) as your login and ‘alpine’ (without the quotes) as your current root password. Once you have logged in as root, type ‘passwd’ command (without quotes) again and press enter. It will now prompt you to enter a new password (twice). Simply enter your desired new password again as you did in Step 3 (for changing mobile password) and you should be all fine.
