HTC ThunderBolt Email Setup Instructions

OVERVIEW

Your phone will provide access to your Gmail, Google Contacts, and Google Calendar as soon as you set up your Google account during activation. Your Google account is needed to access key Android services such as Google Backup and Android Market so you may want to record your Gmail address and password and store it in a safe place. The HTC Thunderbolt also supports popular email services such as Yahoo!, Windows Live, AOL and Verizon.net. To setup your email account, simply follow the instructions below. Be sure to review the Tips section for additional information.

TIPS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Email server settings: Server settings for most popular email providers are available on the Verizon Wireless Support site verzonwireless.com/emailsettings. Visit your email provider’s website for additional information.

  • Add additional email accounts: Tap to open the Applications list, tap Mail, tap Menu, tap Accounts list, New Account and go to step 2 of the instructions on page 1.

Enabling Scan to E-mail
To enable the Scan to E-mail feature:

  1. On the control panel, press the Log In/Out button.
  2. Press the Select button below the display to select System Settings.
    • Use the numeric keypad to enter the Password. The default password is 11111.
    • Press the Select button to select Confirm.
  3. Select Print Settings, and then press the Enter button.
  4. Press the Select button until you see Software Option on the display, and then press the Enter button.
  5. Use the numeric keypad to enter the Software Option password for Scan to E-mail, and then press the Enter button. The password can be found on the inside cover of the Scan to E-mail Instructions.

After Scan to E-mail is enabled, follow these steps to configure Scan to E-mail on your network.

Set the Administrator E-mail Address

  1. At your computer, launch your web browser.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Application button.
  2. Tap the Email icon.
  3. If this is your first email account, you will be presented with an email setup screen. Tap the Next button. Otherwise, press the Menu button, and tap the Add Account button.
  4. In the “Type your account email address” box, enter your full email address, e.g., email@mydomain.com.
  5. In the second box, enter your email account password.
  6. Tap the “Manual setup” button.
  7. Tap the “POP account” button.
  8. Enter the following information in the spaces provided:
    • Username—Enter your full email address.
    • Password—Enter your email account password.
    • POP server—Enter the name of the secure email server: secure.emailsrvr.com
    • Port—Enter the secure port number: 995
    • Security type—Select the security: SSL (always)
    Note: Ensure Port is still 995.
  9. Tap the Next button.The device will connect to the internet and check your incoming settings.

Email Set-up Guide For Nokia E63

Mail for Exchange (Activesync)

If your company uses Microsoft Exchange and is set up to allow mobile access, you can also access your Microsoft Exchange Email account by using the Nokia Mail for Exchange Client preloaded on your Nokia E63. You will find all the info on how to set up Microsoft Exchange Email in the Mail for Exchange User Guide in the Nokia E63 box.

Grab your Nokia E63 and click ‘Set up Email’ wizard from the Home Screen and follow the directions in the user guide.

Yahoo!

If you have a Yahoo! account, you will need to enable POP3 on your online Yahoo! Mail account.

  1. Log on to your Yahoo! Mail account from your PC and click on ‘Options’
  2. Go to ‘POP Access and Forwarding‘ & check ‘Web & POP Access’ and click ‘Save’
  3. On your Nokia E63, click ‘Set up Email’ wizard from the Home Screen.
