The online library catalog includes book and magazine titles, but it does not include any listing of the articles found in a particular magazine or journal issue. To find articles on a certain topic, use a separate database called a periodical index Our online periodical indexes, such as Art Index, may be accessed from any networked RISD computer. Design and Applied Arts Index
Includes more than 450 design and craft journals published 1973-present (most articles date from 1987 onward), and data on nearly 50,000 designers, studios, and firms. Topics covered include advertising, architecture, book design, ceramics, computer aided design, environmental design, fashion design, furniture design, glass, graphic design, illustration, industrial design, interior design, jewellery, marketing, metalsmithing, packaging, photography, retail design, textile design, theatre design, and typography. By clicking on Search Options and then choosing Fields Search, you can search by author, title, periodical title, year, abstract word, or subject. The Main Search page allows searching by keywords connected by AND or OR. The back button of your browser will not work in this index, so use the back link on the bottom left corner of your screen instead. Article citations may be printed, saved on disk, or emailed to yourself.
Art Index/Art Retrospective
Indexes periodical articles on advertising art, antiques, archaeology, architecture, art history, crafts, decorative arts, folk art, graphic arts, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, motion pictures, museology, non-western art, painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, television, and textiles. Available online 1929 to present, with some articles in full-text. Advanced Search option allows searching by all, keyword, author, title, or subject. Keywords can be combined using AND, OR, and NOT. Article citations may be printed, saved on disk, or emailed to yourself.
