Flood Insurance Nevada Consumer’s Guide

FLOOD DANGER

Flooding is the No. 1 natural disaster that Nevadans face and it can occur at any time of year. In Nevada, the most common causes of flooding are heavy rains, flash floods, new land development that can change natural drainage and the spring thaw of winter snow. Additionally, other causes — such as the 2008 levee breach in Fernley – also can lead to unexpected and often rapid flooding.

One of the most common and most devastating myths is that homeowners’ or commercial property insurance will cover loss or damage caused by flood. In fact, approximately one third of the homeowners surveyed recently by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) incorrectly believed that their homeowners’ insurance policy would cover flood damage.

It is critical to check now and evaluate if you have the protection you need for your dwelling/building and belongings in case of flood.

Scalable Network Programming

The fork-and-do-something latency on my notebook on Linux 2.6 is 200
microseconds. That means my notebook can create 5.000 processes per second. Thus my notebook can handle about 13 billion forks per month. My Athlon XP 2000+ desktop can do 10.000 processes per second, or 26 billion per month. Heise Online, the biggest German site, had 118 million page impressions in September.

Scheduling
Why does the fork benchmark include writing to the pipe? Because having many processes not only makes creating more processes more difficult, it also makes choosing which process to run more difficult. The part of the operating system that chooses which process to run next is called the scheduler. A typical workload is having two dozen processes, with one or two of them actually having something to do (they are runnable).

Backcountry Guide – Craig Lake State Park

Introduction

This manual provides you with important information concerning backcountry camping/boating in Craig Lake State Park from May through October. It is essential that you and all members of your party read this information before your trip. After reading it, make a careful and honest evaluation of your party’s abilities. Once you enter the backcountry, you are responsible for yourself and your group’s safety. Please be aware that backcountry travel can be dangerous. Backcountry camping can be a very rewarding way to see and experience the park. Some of the park’s most scenic areas are accessible only by hiking trail or by non motorized boat. The remoteness and serenity of backcountry camping is what draws many people to this area; however, those same reasons are why careful planning and preparation are essential.

How to Secure a Jailbroken iPod/iPhone

The following guide assumes that you have a jailbroken iPhone with OpenSSH installed.

Step 1: Go to Cydia and search for MobileTerminal app and then install it on your iPhone. Once you have successfully installed MobileTerminal, Reboot your iPhone.

Step 2: Now start MobileTerminal app and type the following command: passwd

Step 3: You’ll now be asked for your old password which should be ‘alpine’ (without the quotes), followed by a new one of your choice (twice). Simply enter your old and new password and you are done!

Step 4: In order to change root password, type ‘login’ command (without quotes) and then press enter. Now type ‘root’ (without quotes) as your login and ‘alpine’ (without the quotes) as your current root password. Once you have logged in as root, type ‘passwd’ command (without quotes) again and press enter. It will now prompt you to enter a new password (twice). Simply enter your desired new password again as you did in Step 3 (for changing mobile password) and you should be all fine. It is highly recommended that you change, both your mobile and root passwords to make sure you are completely safe from any outside SSH attack.
