Starting Your Own Wine Business

Regulatory Approval
The basic steps required for approval are:

  1. Local authority approval
  2. State approval (Tennessee Department of Ag ri cul ture)
  3. Alcohol Beverage Commission – ABC approval (state)
  4. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms – BATF approval (federal)
  5. Individual label approval (federal)
  6. Register label with Tennessee Department of Revenue

Once you have made the decision that this is something you are committed to, it is time to understand the process required to receive a license to operate. The first step is to receive permission from your local authorities. The form received from the Alcoholic and Beverage Com mission (ABC) entitled “Winery Approval By Author i ties of Jurisdiction” must be completed and signed by a local official such as the county commissioner/executive, mayor, etc. The complete list of forms sup plied by the ABC is shown in Appendix A. These must be completed and submitted to the ABC for approval.

Parents Guide To Airsoft

Airsoft is a team-based game that promotes sportsmanship and quick thinking. Most of the time, there are two or more teams that participate in military simulation missions, which basically means we are “playing army.” Missions can be as simple or as complicated as desired, but generally involve accomplishing a simple goal while fending off opposing players. Players eliminate each other by successfully shooting them with a 6mm plastic BB from an Airsoft toy. Since no mark left by the BB contrary to the paint left from a paintball, it is up to players to be honest and call themselves out when they are struck.

Is Airsoft dangerous?

Airsoft is a game that involves multiple players firing little plastic balls at each other from relatively powerful toys. Without proper safety equipment, injury to eyes and chipping of teeth is very likely. It is required that participants wear approved goggles and full-face protection. The certification level of any given eyewear will be clearly marked on the packaging or can be verified by contacting the manufacturer directly.

Landscaping for Energy Efficiency

On average, a welldesigned landscape provides enough energy savings to return your initial investment in less than 8 years. An 8-foot (2.4-meter) deciduous (leaf-shedding) tree, for example, costs about as much as an awning for one large window and can ultimately save your household hundreds of dollars in reduced cooling costs, yet still admit some winter sunshine to reduce heating and lighting costs. Landscaping can save you money in summer or winter.

Summer
You may have noticed the coolness of parks and wooded areas compared to the temperature of nearby city streets. Shading and evapotranspiration (the process by which a plant actively moves and releases water vapor) from trees can reduce surrounding air temperatures as much as 9° F (5°C). Because cool air settles near the ground, air temperatures directly under trees can be as much as 25°F (14°C) cooler than air temperatures above nearby blacktop. Studies by the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory found summer daytime air temperatures to be 3°F to 6° F (2°C to 3°C) cooler in tree-shaded neighborhoods than in treeless areas. A well-planned landscape can reduce an unshaded home’s summer air-conditioning costs by 15% to 50%. One Pennsylvania study reported air-conditioning savings of as much as 75% for small mobile homes.

Guide to Insurance for Off-Road and Recreational Vehicles

How to Use This Guide

This guide is intended to describe insurance for off-road recreational vehicles, such as snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles, as well as the off-road use of any cars, trucks or motorcycles that are not covered under private passenger automobile and are not used for commercial purposes. If you are interested in insurance for commercial operation of recreational vehicles, contact your insurance producer to discuss other insurance, including inland marine insurance.

Your automobile policy may provide coverage for your cars, trucks or motorcycles that have been registered with the Registry of Motor Vehicles, as well as trailers attached to those vehicles, but the standard policy does not cover off-road recreational vehicles such as unregistered trail bikes, all-terrain vehicles, dune buggies, go-carts, and snowmobiles. Your home insurance policy may provide limited coverage for small vehicles such as riding mowers, golf carts or wheelchairs, but does not provide coverage for off-road recreational vehicles. Snowmobiles and off-road bikes are not specifically covered under either your automobile or home insurance and you may need coverage in a special policy or as an endorsement to existing coverage you may have under your automobile or home insurance.

A Brief Guide to the Wines of Germany

German wines are produced according to a quality scale based on the ripeness of the grapes at harvest time. In general, riper grapes produce richer, more complex wines. Because of Germany’s cool, northern climate, full ripeness can often be difficult to achieve, so this ripeness-based quality scale does make some sense. The problem is that it ignores the historically proven differences in variety and vineyard site and does nothing to address differences in quality among producers. The result is that, judging only from the label, a Riesling Spätlese from a dedicated winemaker and a great vineyard would seem to be of the same quality as a Müller-Thurgau Spätlese from an industrial producer and lousy vineyards. The best way to proceed as a consumer is to and find the producers whose style you enjoy and then focus on the differences between the quality levels and vineyards in their wines.

GERMANY’S LEVELS OF WINE QUALITY

Qualitätswein/QbA. [kval-ee-TAYTS-vine] German for “quality wine.” QbA is an acronym for Qualitätswein bestimmter Anbaugebiete, which means a quality wine that comes entirely from one of the 13 designated wine regions in Germany. This is an estate’s basic wine and can often be a very good value, especially from top-rated producers. Chaptalization (adding sugar to improve ripeness) is allowed in QbA.

How to recover from a Trojan or virus

Reinstall your operating system
If the previous step failed to clean your computer, the most effective option is to wipe or format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. Although this corrective action will also result in the loss of all your programs and files, it is the only way to ensure your computer is free from backdoors and intruder modifications.

Many computer vendors also offer a rescue partition or disc(s) that will do a factory restore of the system. Check your computer’s user manual to find out whether one of these is provided and how to run it.

Before conducting the reinstall, make a note of all your programs and settings so that you can return your computer to its original condition.
It is vital that you also reinstall your antivirus software and apply any patches that may be available. Consult “Before You Connect a New Computer to the Internet” for further assistance.
