Digital Photography Tips

Taking photographs of animals
Animal photography is challenging because it’s difficult to get your subjects to do what you’d like them to do. Sure, a well-trained dog is more likely to sit or stay than your average hamster, but even Lassie doesn’t follow directions as well as your average human. But by following just a few helpful tips, you can take animal photographs that say a lot more about your pet than, “Gosh, he’s sure blurry!”

Get ready to say cheese
A lot of animals, whether they are house pets or barnyard creatures, don’t like cameras. Perhaps it’s something to do with the size or the shape of the camera that frightens many animals. Add in the loud click of a shutter and the bright light of a flash, and you can seriously spook some animals. The end result is a blurry, out-of-focus shot.
Many household pets can be trained to get used to cameras. Let your pet sniff or smell the camera when you’re not using it, and give them special treats every time you take their picture.
He might be a cute cat, but this picture is blurry. This could have been eliminated with the use of the camera’s flash.

Using the Acorn C/C++ Development Environment

The Acorn C/C++ Development Suite from Castle Technology Ltd is a major update to Acorn C/C++ that Acorn released in 1994. It includes new 32-bit versions of the C compiler, ARM assembler, linker and all of the other tools that were in the original C/C++ pack. More importantly it enables software to be ported to Castle’s new 32-bit IYONIX PC ahead of its launch.

Acorn C/C++ cost £250 in 1994 and was supplied with four printed manuals totalling nearly 1400 pages and several floppy discs. Castle supply a single CD for £99 which contains the new software, the updated manuals in PDF format, and some useful public domain software including StrongEd, Zap, Perl and 32-bit IYONIX versions of Colin Granville’s PDF reader and FTPc for transferring files to or from FTP sites. All of these are installed automatically by the supplied installer and work with RISC OS 3.10 onwards. As if that wasn’t enough Castle is now including a new version of the ABC Compiler which was previously available from Pineapple Software and SID, an ARM disassembler and analysis tool.

Treating Prostate Cancer

A Guide for Men With Localized Prostate Cancer

Most men have time to learn about all the options for treating their prostate cancer. You have time to talk with your family and to discuss your options with your doctor or nurse. This guide can help you think about what is best for you—now and in the future.

What is the prostate?

The prostate is a gland about the size of a walnut. It is found only in men. It makes and stores the liquid that carries sperm. The prostate is located near the bladder and rectum (the last part of the bowel before the anus). It is just below the bladder and surrounds the urethra (the tube that drains urine from the bladder).

How is prostate cancer found?

Teen Pregnancy Pact

As for the pregnant Glouster girls, any sane adult has to wonder, “WHY would they do that?” I wondered, too. Where did those girls get the idea that being a teen mom would be like…awesome?

Maybe we could blame the media. Recently, it’s been shining awfully bright lights on pregnancy, depicting it as glamorous and trendy. In the hugely popular movie Juno, the lead character is a very hip, smart, and pregnant 16-year-old. Coincidentally, the day the Glouster story broke, media outlets blasted the news of the birth of a baby to Brittany Spears’ little sister, Jamie Lynn, who is 17. For months, paparazzi photographed her growing “bump,” as teens around the nation watched Jamie smiling, waving, and wearing totally But could media coverage cause an otherwise mentally stable 15-year-old to believe that getting pregnant now is a great idea? I don’t think so. Not any more than playing violent video games is going to turn an emotionally healthy 15-year-old into a mass murderer.
