Recognizing Wildfire Risk

How do you know if you’re at risk from wildfire? It is easy to see that a home is at risk from wildfire if it sits in the middle of a woodlot or on the edge of an overgrown field. Additionally, homes are also at risk in what fire experts call the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI).

The WUI can be anywhere along the suburban fringe. Many denselydeveloped suburban neighborhoods with four-lane streets and stoplights are at significant risk from wildfire. The WUI can also be small, developed lots around a lake , or small tracts in a forested area. It’s hard to say exactly where the risk ends, but having undeveloped woodlands and fields in and around a neighborhood means that residents should know how to prepare their homes for wildfire.

Two types of wildfire

Web Transaction Tutorial
This tutorial describes how you can create Web transactions using the Web transaction programming model. Web transactions are Internet-enabled R/3 transactions.

Thanks to the Internet Transaction Server (ITS), which links the R/3 System to the Internet, you can turn R/3 transactions into Web transactions, and run them as Internet Application Components (IACs) from any suitable Web browser.

You develop Web transactions both inside and outside the R/3 System:

• Inside R/3, you use the ABAP Workbench to create a transaction by developing an ABAP dialog program.
• Outside R/3, you use the SAP@Web Studio to enable the transaction for Internet use by creating an ITS service, which contains all the components required to implement and run an IAC.

What the Tutorial Covers
This tutorial is designed to be read as a continuous document. It covers all the steps you have to take to convert R/3 transactions to Web transactions, and demonstrates specific features of interest in the context of Web transaction development.

This guide presents the essential information programmers need to develop efficient applications using the Sun WorkShop™ Fortran compilers, f77 (Fortran 77) and f95 (Fortran 95). It presents issues relating to input/output, program development, use and creation of software libraries, program analysis and debugging, numerical accuracy, porting, performance, optimization, parallelization, and the C/Fortran interface.

This guide is intended for scientists, engineers, and programmers who have a working knowledge of the Fortran language and wish to learn how to use the Sun Fortran compilers effectively. Familiarity with the Solaris operating environment or UNIX® in general is also assumed.

The companion Fortran User’s Guide describes the compile-time environment and command-line options for the Sun WorkShop™ 6 Fortran compilers: f77 (FORTRAN 77) and f95 (Fortran 95).

The Resource Conservation Challenge (RCC) is a challenge to all Americans—makers, sellers, and buyers of goods–to conserve our nation’s natural resources by changing behavior.
