The Java EE 5 Tutorial

Java EE Application Model

The Java EE application model begins with the Java programming language and the Java virtual machine. The proven portability, security, and developer productivity they provide forms the basis of the application model. Java EE is designed to support applications that implement enterprise services for customers, employees, suppliers, partners, and others who make demands on or contributions to the enterprise. Such applications are inherently complex, potentially accessing data from a variety of sources and distributing applications to a variety of clients.

Distributed Multitiered Applications

The Java EE platform uses a distributed multitiered application model for enterprise applications. Application logic is divided into components according to function, and the various application components that make up a Java EE application are installed on different machines depending on the tier in the multitiered Java EE environment to which the application component belongs. Figure 1–1 shows two multitiered Java EE applications divided into the tiers described in the following list. The Java EE application parts shown in Figure 1–1 are presented in Java EE Components (page 4).

Consumer’s Guide to Auto Insurance

Why Should You Buy Auto Insurance?

If you cause an auto accident, you may be responsible for the losses of the other people involved. A claim may be made or a lawsuit filed against you for those losses. You may have to pay not only for the property damage you cause, but also for the medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering of any injured person. The amount of money you may have to pay could be substantial.

If you don’t have insurance, anything of value that you own, including your home, savings, future wages, and other assets, may be taken to pay for those losses. Auto liability insurance can help protect you so that this doesn’t happen. Liability insurance also pays for an attorney to defend you against any claim or lawsuit that may be payable under the policy.

Landscape Irrigation Design Manual

Step one: Understanding basic hydraulics
Hydraulics is defined as the study of fluid behavior, at rest and in motion. Properly designed piping, with sound hydraulics, can greatly reduce maintenance problems over the life of an irrigation system. Controlling the water flow velocity, holding velocity within proper limits, reduces wear on the system components and lengthens service life. Poor hydraulic design results in poor performance of the irrigation system, leading to stressed landscaping material, or even broken pipes and flood damage. Lack of design know-how can also cost the system owner more money because the designer may over-design the system to avoid unknown factors. In addition to wasting money, a poor hydraulic design will often waste water. Hydraulic analysis is important to minimize financial risks, produce efficient designs and eliminate waste.

Fitness Fundamentals Guide

KNOWING THE BASICS
Physical fitness is most easily understood by examining its components, or “parts.” There is widespread agreement that these four components are basic:

  • Cardiorespiratory Endurance – the ability to deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues, and to remove wastes, over sustained periods of time. Long runs and swims are among the methods employed in measuring this component.
  • Muscular Strength – the ability of a muscle to exert force for a brief period of time. Upper-body strength, for example, can be measured by various weight-lifting exercises.
  • Muscular Endurance – the ability of a muscle, or a group of muscles, to sustain repeated contractions or to continue applying force against a fixed object. Pushups are often used to test endurance of arm and shoulder muscles.
  • Flexibility – the ability to move joints and use muscles through their full range of motion. The sit-andreach test is a good measure of flexibility of the lower back and backs of the upper legs.

Wireless Networking: Windows 7 Configuration

There are two stages to complete to connect to the university wireless network

  1. Connect to the archimedes287bc wireless network
  2. Establish a VPN connection

Windows 7 includes configuration of wireless devices as part of the operating system, however drivers for different wireless devices may include additional configuration utilities.

To setup wireless access on a Windows 7 machine ensure the drivers are installed correctly either from Microsoft Windows Update, or from the manufacturers CDROM supplied with the wireless device.

Setting up Windows 7 for wireless access

  • Click on the Start icon and select Control Panel
  • From within Control Panel select Network and Internet
  • From within Network and Internet select Network and Sharing Center
  • From within the Network and Sharing Center screen click Connect to a network
  • Select archimedes287bc and click Connect

How to Clean Your AeroGarden Pump

We recommend that you clean your AeroGarden Pump after every seed kit. This will ensure that nutrients or plant roots do not clog the water flow. However, if your AeroGarden has started making a noise, this can be a sign of residue inside the Pump, and it should be cleaned.

Supplies Needed:

  • Sink with Hot Water
  • Dish Soap
  • 1 gallon wide – mouthed container (such as a bucket)
  • Towel (Optional)
  • Extra Filters

Time Needed: Approx. 10 – 15 minutes

The most convenient time to clean the Pump is during the “Preparing for your Next Garden” cleaning steps, which can be found in the back of any “Tending and Harvesting” guide. If you are cleaning the Pump while your AeroGarden is planted, be sure to save the water from your Bowl as described in steps 3 & 4 below.
