Oracle On Demand Infrastructure Virtualization with Oracle VM

INTRODUCING ORACLE VM TO ORACLE ON DEMAND
Oracle is introducing server virtualization within the Oracle On Demand Managed Services Grid with Oracle VM, a new server virtualization product which fully supports both Oracle and non-Oracle applications and offers scalable, low-cost server virtualization that is three times more efficient than competitive products.
Backed by Oracle’s world-class support organization, On Demand customers now have a single point of enterprise-class support for their entire virtualization environments, including the Linux operating system, Oracle Database, Fusion Middleware and Application software—all of which are supported with Oracle VM.
Industry-leading partners, including AMD, Dell, Emulex, HP, Intel, Liquid Computing, NetApp, Pillar Data Systems, and QLogic have endorsed Oracle VM. And with this announcement, Oracle is the only software vendor that combines the benefits of server clustering and server virtualization technologies to deliver integrated clustering, virtualization, storage, and management for Grid Computing.

Models of Internet Worm Defense

Content Filtering
We consider two schemes analyzed by Moore et al. “Requirements for Containing Self-Propagating Code”
Content filtering—Idea is that worm packets look a lot alike. One can find
signatures based on hashes of packet content to recognize I’m told that actual commercial products exist that do this Our model : after a delay T0, worm scans are recognized by packet content.
Filters at local network boundaries protect those networks. Fraction fopen of hosts have “open path” to attack still.
Phase I – the worm spreads before detection.
Phase II – the susceptible population drops from s(T0) to
(1 – fopen) × s(T0), dynamics otherwise are the same.

Address Blacklisting
Address Blacklisting—likely infected hosts are added to blacklists. Fraction fopen hosts remain unprotected.
Our model :
Detection delay T0 of infected host, detection framework started at time
D0
Phase I—original spreading dynamics
Phase II—At time D0 + T0 blacklisting takes effect. Split populations into
that which is covered by blacklisting (sp) and that which is unprotected
(su): At time D0 + T0:

Home Lighting

Interior Lighting
With so many lighting options in a variety of wattages and color tones, just about every fixture in your home can be a source of radiance and energy efficiency.

Attics/Basements
CFLs – Pairing CFLs with motion or occupancy sensors that make your lights go on and off when someone enters or leaves a room can help save energy and money by ensuring attic and basement lights won’t be left on accidentally.

Bathroom Lighting
CFLs – When lighting vanities or sinks, choose ‘bright white’ or ‘daylight’ CFLs, which most closely resemble natural daylight.
For vanities that have multiple lights, switching to CFLs not only helps saves in lighting costs but eliminates the excessive heat produced by less efficient incandescent bulbs.
CFLs can also be used in shower downlights-–-just remember to make sure you select CFLs labeled for use in wet areas.

FRONT SEATS

Front manual seat adjustment

Forward and backward:
Pull the lever*1 up and hold it while you slide the seat forward or backward to the desired position. Release the lever to lock the seat in position.

Reclining:
To recline the seatback, pull the lever*2 up and lean back. To bring the seatback forward, pull the lever up and lean your body forward. Release the lever to lock the seatback in position.

The reclining feature allows adjustment of the seatback for occupants of different sizes for added comfort and to help obtain proper seat belt fit. (See “PRECAUTIONS ON SEAT BELT USAGE” later in this section.) Also, the seatback can be reclined to allow occupants to rest when the vehicle is stopped and the transmission in the P (Park) position.

Seat lifter (if so equipped):
Pull up or push down the adjusting lever to adjust the seat height until the desired position is achieved.

Show Me the Next-Generation HDMI

Early versions of HDMI (version 1.2 and below) clocked their serial links at 165 MHz, giving the connection a total capacity of 4.95 Gbps. When the HDMI 1.3 specification was introduced in 2006, its optional 340 MHz system clock rate doubled the link’s maximum capacity to 10.2 Gbps. To put some perspective on this enormous bandwidth, it only takes 2.23 Gbps to support a 1080i, 8 bits/color HDTV display running at a 60 Hz frame refresh rate.

The HDMI serial data stream is segmented into packets that allow it to encapsulate nearly any digital media format including standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, multi-channel digital audio and control information on a single cable. Video data is always transmitted in an uncompressed format, complete with horizontal and vertical blanking intervals. The video blanking intervals (Data Island Periods) are used to transmit audio data, which can consist of any compressed, non-compressed, PCM, single or multi-channel formats and control information. The audio formats include the new DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD formats used by Blu-ray media players.
